Heli Size:		Comments / Questions: RunRyder or HeliFreak Tips: We are focusing on the % motor head room, not head speed. The results are relative to your KV and gear ratio against the normal head speed for your size model. Headroom is the lower motor RPM relative to max motor RPM. Example: 30% head room would be 100 - 70 = 30. Using this tool should help you find the optimal gear ratio and motor RPM to yield the longest flight and/or best gov performance. It is possible to fly 6 minutes or longer and still fly 3D beyond sport flying. At the end of your flight the resting voltage should be above 3.74v per cell, and never use more than 80% of the battery's capacity. The battery pack should not be too hot after a flight (below 130F degrees). Assuming your battery is fairly new and good condition: 1) Click the button "Recommend My Pinion" to get an idea, and use that recommended configuration. 2) Try 25% head room. Select 25 from the menu. 3) Lastly, if your flight time is still less than 5 minutes, consider reducing collective pitch a little. Depending on collective management, it is possible to fly up to 7 minutes with lower head speed on a high voltage heli with up to 30% motor head room, and still enjoy a lot of power. It is all about the sweet spot gear ratio, motor headroom, and governor settings. Always try to increase your gov gain to just before a shutter (wag), and adjust your gov gain after you change the pinion (lower pinion, higher gain).
